Training the Next Generation of Cancer Leaders
Executive Leadership Academy for
Cancer Centers (ELACC)
MUSC Hollings Cancer Center and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Massey
Comprehensive Cancer Center launched the inaugural Executive Leadership Academy
for Cancer Centers (ELACC) to prepare the next generation of cancer center leaders.
The first cohort of six fellows from each institution are learning all aspects of the National
Cancer Institute (NCI) Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG), the funding mechanism
that accompanies confirmation of NCI-designated cancer center status. Fellows learn
guideline review, unwritten expectations, best practices and more.
ELACC Fellows are being exposed to leadership development workshops and a
360-degree leadership assessment followed by three professional 1:1 coaching sessions.
Paired with both a leadership mentor and external sponsor, ELACC Fellows will also
support the development and completion of an ELACC Capstone Project.
