cancer center

As a National Cancer Institutedesignated cancer center, Hollings
has already been recognized for
the quality of its research. Now, we
are seeking comprehensive cancer
center designation, the highest level
of recognition, currently achieved by only 57 cancer centers
nationwide.
Achieving comprehensive cancer center status will validate
the work happening at Hollings; it will show that Hollings
is performing top-tier transdisciplinary research that brings
together basic, clinical and population science to develop new
knowledge about how to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.
Not only will this designation provide confirmation of the work
already occurring, but it will further attract additional top-tier
researchers and clinicians to work here.
Having a comprehensive cancer center in South Carolina will
be an asset to all who live in the state, who benefit from the
innovative care and research centered here.
