Hollings In Brief
Abi Siva, M.D., spoke at the American Cancer Society’s annual
Ann Riley Pink Tea for Cancer Awareness. She explained how
treatments for breast cancer have improved and what we still
need to learn.
Osteosarcoma patient Jayden Jenkins and family
were honored at The Citadel’s Intercept Cancer
game in October 2025. Jayden is a middle school
student in Irmo who is thinking about a career in sports
medicine or sports physical therapy.
The Survivorship and Cancer Outcomes Research (SCOR) team
hosted the second annual SCOR Survivorship Symposium in June.
Clinicians, patients, researchers and advocates heard from researchers
studying a range of topics, including fatigue and the effects of exercise,
and heard firsthand stories from cancer survivors.

to host our inaugural Breast Cancer Survivorship
Celebration. Be sure to join us next year!
Lung cancer physician assistant Eleanor Hardy and
lung cancer survivor Denise Swick dropped the puck
at a Stingrays game in November! We were thankful
for the opportunity to talk about the importance of
lung cancer screening.
The Hollings He-Rows were delighted to again
be on hand for Dragonboat Charleston. This
spring event brings together cancer survivors and
care providers for a day of fellowship and exciting
dragonboat racing on the Ashley River.
